Hyundai Santa Fe Spark Plug Gap

The Hyundai Santa Fe owners know this is an excellent vehicle for families. It’s comfortable, reliable, and has many features that make it perfect for long trips. If you’re looking to improve your Hyundai Santa Fe even further, one of the best things you can do is upgrade the spark plugs.

Best Spark Plugs For Hyundai Santa Fe

Notice

To ensure optimal performance, be sure to install new spark plugs with the correct heat range.

2001-2006 Hyundai Santa Fe Spark Plugs

Between 2001 and 2004, Hyundai Santa Fe had three engines: 2.4, 2.7, and 3.5 liters. All these engines were equipped with platinum spark plugs, and the gap for them was 1-1.1 mm. In this table, I list the data and names of the brands of spark plugs that were installed at the factory.

My recommendation is that the Hyundai Santa Fe use spark plugs recommended by the manufacturer. However, almost twenty years have passed since then, and technology has changed somewhat, so in addition to platinum spark plugs, I would recommend paying attention to iridium spark plugs as well.

Notice

Your engine was factory-installed with platinum-tipped spark plugs, which have a longer lifespan than regular spark plugs and can be recognized by a blue line on their ceramic housing.

And here are the best spark plugs you can use without worrying that they won’t fit the engine.

As for the replacement interval, Hyundai recommends replacing them every 60,000 miles, but if you use iridium spark plugs, you can replace them less often—like every 80,000 miles.

How Often Should You Change Spark Plugs Hyundai Santa Fe?

The recommended spark plug replacement intervals for the Hyundai Santa Fe vary by vehicle year and engine size.

It’s generally recommended that you replace your spark plugs every 60,000 miles. However, if you notice any decreased performance or fuel efficiency from your Hyundai Santa Fe, it’s a good idea to check the spark plugs and see if they need to be replaced sooner.

Benefits of Upgrading Spark Plugs

Several benefits come with upgrading the spark plugs in your Hyundai Santa Fe. One of the biggest benefits is increased performance. With new spark plugs, your Hyundai Santa Fe will have an easier time starting up and will run more smoothly overall. You may also see a slight increase in fuel efficiency.

What Are The Symptoms Of Failing Spark Plugs?

The symptoms of failing spark plugs can vary depending on the engine type and the spark plug being used. Still, some common signs include poor fuel economy, decreased overall performance, difficulty starting the engine, misfiring or jerking during acceleration, and increased exhaust emissions. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is best to check the spark plugs to assess the damage.

Types of Spark Plugs

There are three main types of spark plugs: iridium, platinum, and copper. Iridium spark plugs are the most expensive but also last the longest, typically around 60,000 miles. Platinum spark plugs are a good middle-of-the-road option – they’re not as expensive as iridium plugs, but they still last longer than copper plugs. Copper spark plugs are the least expensive but must be replaced more often, usually every 20,000 miles.
